TIGERS CORNER: Rogers hopes to ‘calm down’ left elbow (Detroit Free Press)

OAKLAND, Calif. — Tigers left-hander Kenny Rogers said Monday he plans to rest his sore pitching elbow for about a week before playing catch.

    Ripken, Gwynn enjoy Hall of Fame moment (Detroit Free Press)

    COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn took their place in baseball’s shrine Sunday, saluted as much for their Hall of Fame careers as their character off the field. Commissioner Bud Selig and a record crowd came to cheer them and all that is good about the game.
