My Other Bomber Concerns

In no particular order:

1) Can we establish a consistent and dependable kicking game?

2) Can we avoid panic if we don’t start the season 2-2 against Montreal and Toronto? Or even 1-3 or 0-4? Can our locker room leaders stay leaders and our coaching staff stay calm?

3) Do we really have enough talent at quarterback? What do we do if Kevin Glenn’s June is a bust? (see earlier post)

4) How improved will the defence really be? I was not impressed in the first pre season game.

5) Can we replace Keith Stokes at returner and will Albert Johnson III be the one to break several for TD’s as Keith did?

Gamebreaking plays and top performance and execution under pressure (pressure of time or pressure of need to score or prevent a score) are always the ultimate keys to success or failure.

just wondering…ed tait comment

Just arrived in Montreal this evening for Thursday’s final Bomber preseason game and the long plane trip got me thinking about the following:
-Three guys I can’t wait to see in action against the Als are former Minnesota Vikings RB Onterrio Smith; WR/SB Quentin McCord, who is making a case for starting work and QB Kevin Glenn. Frankly, Glenn has to step up and perform well or there will be many doubters - including yours truly - as to how far this team could go this year.
To be honest, I’m basing my whole preseason predictions, due out next week, on what I see and hear about teams in their final tune-up.
-Interesting to see that head coach Doug Berry is leaving QB Brad Banks behind. In my mind, despite his occasional struggles in camp he’s a guy worth keeping around. My guess is Berry wants to decide between Russ Michna and Mike Quinn as the No. 2 pivot behind Glenn. Michna and Quinn are essentially the same QB — an intelligent pocker passer — but Banks is by far the most mobile of the quartet.
-Meanwhile, here’s something to keep percolating on the backburner: Casey Printers, the former B.C. Lion QB, is listed fourth and last on the Kansas City Chiefs depth chart behind Trent Green, Damon Huard and draft pick Brodie Croyle. His CFL rights still belong to the Lions, but what if he’s dumped in late August and the Bombers still have an unanswered QB issue?
