Mull over that subject header for a moment  the Blue Bombers, 3-1, are tied with the Montreal Alouettes,3-0, atop the East  and ask yourself, truthfully, who would have thought that the extreme makeover of this team would come so quickly?
I exited the Bomber clubhouse here at Rogers Centre a couple of hours ago still admittedly a little dumbfounded by everything we’ve seen in the first month from this squad. It’s time, I’ll concede, to declare the Bombers a legitimate team. Are they the CFL’s best? I’m still not convinced. But the way Greg Marshall has his troops playing defence is a solid foundation. And if Doug Berry can continue to help Kevin Glenn grow as a quarterback… who knows?
Some other random thoughts from the Bombers 24-17 victory in the Big Smoke:
-The Bombers’ depth will be severely tested this week with both Ron Warner (knee) and Cam Legault (shoulder) likely out for the home date against the Montreal Alouettes. Jon Oosterhuis was steady in relief and even chipped in with a sack, but could Dante Booker - who was solid in camp - get a call-back from GM Brendan Taman?
-This just in…. Milt Stegall is good. No, really, really good. I mean, the guy shakes off a sure-TD catch that may have messed with the mind of many other receivers to finish with 10 catches and a score. And those were 10 of the toughest catches he’ll ever make.
-You wonder how long the Argos will wait for Spergon Wynn to get it done. His numbers yesterday were good - 27 of 38 for 330 yards and two TDs - but he still gags on some of the simplest throws.
-Ricky Williams carries six times for nine yards? Ouch. The Argo O-line has been brutal in the two games against Winnipeg as the former NFL star is often engulfed not long after taking the hand-off. He entered the game with 208 yards rushing, but only 14 of that came against the Bombers in Week 2. Methinks the Argos should be running more sweeps with Williams to the wide side of the field, rather than continually force him between the tackles.
