Alouettes trounce lacklustre Argos

The Montreal Alouettes didn’t need an offensive explosion to dispose of the hapless Toronto Argonauts Thursday night at Percival Molson Stadium.

Hitting You Back

Turtle Man here. Just thought I’d respond to some of the questions I’ve been asked.
I will attempt to answer the questions as honest and precise as possible.

1. What were your thoughts before, during, and after the 100-yard TD catch versus Edmonton?

stegallcatch.JPGBefore the catch I was thinking about the defense they played on the previous play, and thinking if they played that same defense we possibly had a chance to make a play. During the play, as I am running down the field, I’m thinking to myself that they are playing the exact same defense, and we really do have a chance to make a play. When I saw the ball in the air, I thought I had a chance to catch it, but I thought I would be tackled immediately. When I was not tackled, all I saw was green grass and the endzone, and the next thing I knew I was being hit hard by Chris (JJ) Brazzell, and smothered by my other teammates. After the play I made sure I had someone pinch me, because I actually thought I was dreaming. And as they say, the rest is history.

2. Do you remember the people and events you’ve encountered and been involved in throughout your time in Winnipeg?

I remember maybe 98 per cent of the all the events I’ve participated in. As for all the people I’ve meet, that’s a different story. I usually remember faces, but when it comes to names, I tend to struggle. But I’m showing progress.

3.What’s with the need to give everyone a nickname? Do you think that only beautiful people are entitled to have nicknames and give them out? If so how do I join this exclusive club?

Well, first of all I think everyone is beautiful. And for the nickname thing, it’s just a little fun game I like to play with my teammates, and for the most part everyone seems to enjoy it. I haven’t receive any complaints yet. If you want to join this club, all you have to do is walk up to me and ask me for a nickname. It’s that simple.

4. I’m thinking that the success the team is having this year is largely due to a new attitude. What do you think?

I agree, but there are other factors that have also helped with our success, such as: The signing of Coach Berry and the coaching staff; Mr. Taman going out and signing some great players; and the players we were able to get in the Ottawa draft.

5. What are those small arm bands a lot of the players wear? They look like rubber bands. What purpose do they serve?

They serve no purpose at all. It’s just a fashion statement. A lot of players feel that if you look good, you will play good. There is nothing else to it.

6. Where are the touchdown dances?

We are working on something big, I’ll leave it at that.

—Milt Stegall
