To run away or take the risk…
Word out of Toronto today had the Argos cutting talented-but-troubled WR Robert Baker.
The Bombers  at least, some of upper management  are said to be intrigued by his talent. Baker was a 1,000-yard receiver last year and is also one of the toughest and most-vicious blockers at his position in the CFL. But he’s also got so much baggage he needs his own bell hop. I say beware here, lads. In fact, as much as his talent is tempting, I think I’d run away. And here’s why: if his act wears thin on Pinball Clemons  one of the most forgiving men on the planet  then what makes the Bombers, or any team, think they can reform him?
Had the chance to chat with Mike Quinn today and it’s hard not to be impressed with his professionalism. Sounds like he may get a long stint at the controls for the Bombers as Kevin Glenn is to have his knee ’scoped on Thursday.
Interesting move by the Bombers today at practice, moving import newcomer Belton Johnson into the right tackle spot and shifting Mike Abou-Mechrek inside. The Bombers love Johnson’s ability, and obviously want to beef up their O-line to keep Quinn upright. It’s also a glorious opportunity for Arjei Franklin and Jamie Stoddard  two Canadian guys  to show their worth in the offence as they’ll both get the start.
Now if they can only get Quinn to throw them the ball…
