Memo to the other guys and other stuff…
Interesting piece today on the front of the Sports section of the other paper.
Let’s just say this as a rebuttal: we don’t like the insinuations we didn’t do our due dilligence on the story. Our sources were solid. That’s why we ran with the story. If you choose to downplay it, fine. But don’t suggest we didn’t do the legwork on our end. That’s not cool and it’s insulting.
Our compadre at The Hamilton Spectator, Ken Peters, reported today that Ticat pivot Jason Maas has been dropped to No. 3 on the Ticat depth chart as they try to get a good read on Kevin Eakin and Richie Williams. If the Bombers can’t clinch a playoff spot now, they don’t deserve an entry in the Grey Cup tournament.
Expect the Ticats to be conducting open auditions in their final two games. Why, especially given Ron Lancaster will not return in ’07? Simple. The CFL preseason is too short and new GM Marcel Desjardins needs to get a better read on the hand he’s been dealt.
