The Grey Cup showed its age Sunday night as the trophy broke in two during the BC Lions’ celebration on the winners’ podium at Canad Inns Stadium.
The Phiadelphia Eagles lost quarterback Donovan McNabb for the rest of the season to a knee injury during their 31-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans Sunday.
Non-game items . . .
Most awesome moment . . . sitting in the north end zone stands . . . two Hornets go to full burner flying south over the stadium . . . could feel the vibrations.
Most disturbing moment . . . using the washrooms at half-time.
Entire game atmosphere . . . exciting, great show by Winnipeg, half-time show looked and sounded good even though I’m not a fan of Nelly’s new music.
Amazed at how many people around me are so wasted they don’t even know what’s going on in the game.
Security . . . excellent. Winnipeg’s finest "escorted" one fan out of our section near the end of the game.
All the volunteers . . friendly, helpful, enthused, efficient for getting inthe stadium.
The crowd chanting "One More Year" when Stegall and Jones were on stage for best connection award.
Game thoughts . . . McCallum should have been game most outstanding player, and Cahoon most outstanding Canadian. Yes, Dickenson had some good passes and some good runs, but he wasn’t outstanding. But Cahoon made some great passes, always fought for extra yards . . . got the sense that he wanted the cup more than any other Als player. BC as a team played with much higher intensity and except for the third quarter, completely dominated. Glad Montreal at least made it a seven point game going into the fourth. Officiating sure seemed to favour BC, but BC deserved the win, congratulations to them. The Winnipeg crowd definitely favoured BC.
Overall, great time, sorry I didn’t have time to party much this week with work and family, but hope everyone who visited here had a great time.
Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo broke Doug Flutie’s record for most career passing yards in the Grey Cup by connecting on a 14-yard pass with Dave Stala in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 25-14 loss to the BC Lions.

I’ve seen three Grey Cups in person: 1976, 1978 (both here at CNE Stadium) and 2004 (in Ottawa). The first was easily the best game, with Ottawa trumping Saskatchewan in dramatic fashion. Can’t recall much about the ‘78 game other than …
