Bomber Headlines

No blockbuster, nothing remarkable yet. Incremental improvement over 2006 appears to be the team’s approach so far. No new gamebreakers.  I concur with this approach, however it assumes our coaching staff is strong enough to get more out of the existing talent base and plot game strategy better than other coaching staffs.  Plus, it assumes we’ll have more character, fight and discipline than previously.

Blue QB Prospects Go Undrafted

And now the fun part begins for Bomber GM Brendan Taman…

We told you on Friday of the six QBs the Bombers were tracking heading into National Football League Draft, which just finished up today in New York. And none of the six were selected in the seven-round affair.

Now, that doesn’t mean they won’t get looks. NFL teams are forever trying to find the next Tom Brady (a late-round pick) and will sign anybody that can throw a spiral in the next few days.

Keep an eye on the transaction wire to see if any of these players, all on the Bomber negotiation list, are signed to free-agent deals. If they aren’t by the end of the next week, they could be eyeing a career in the CFL and Taman’s voicemail will be full in a heartbeat:

-Tyler Palko (6-1, 215, Pitt): Southpaw who threw for 18 TDs last year.

-John Stocco (6-1, 205, Wisconsin): Three-year starter, considered under-sized by NFL scouts.

-Zach Taylor (6-2, 210, Nebraska): Average arm, but tough as nails. Threw for 25 TDs last year.

-Will Proctor (6-2, 210, Clemson): Had mediocre numbers as a senior, but Taman liked what he saw when scouting him at the Hula Bowl.

-Marvin Burroughs (6-0, 220, Villanova): Rusher/passer type considered one of the best athletes in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

-Jerry Babb (6-3, 225, Louisiana-Lafayette): Recommended by former Bomber offensive co-ordinator Mike Gibson.

Cheers
