Is this the year for Gift Certificates? My friends are starting to talk about Christmas. Who is giving what to whom? How much? What to do for my two teenage daughters? My anxiety level is starting to rise. This is a link to a program that I'm involved with that can help with gift certificates for premium seating for the best upcoming concerts or theatre, nba and ncaa basketball, nhl hockey, nfl and ncaa hockey and nascar events. Give it a look if you're starting to think ahead like I am. Gift Certificates for Event Tickets Easy to scan their list of available events. All the hot tickets. (standard disclaimer re affiliation) Recently I had the experience of having my whole car and luggage searched by Canada Customs officials at Emerson. Maybe we appeared too shifty, maybe we looked like we might have bought $5 more than our 24 limit of $100. $50 each per person. The customs officer said to us, "stand in front of the car we're we can see you". I was waiting for the "keep your hands on the hood at all times" line next. In the end, customs officials did their job and we're probably written up somewhere as an example of a successful search and how to spot lawbreakers. Our purchases were below the limit as we stated, yet they found we had 1 small bottle of Aleve painkiller in our possession (an old sports injury) which we had bought in the US over the counter. We learned this product cannot be brought into Canada because it needs to be provided by prescription. There may be many others. We've learned. Ignorance is no defence. Don't be an "aleve lawbreaker". Handing Links for People and Goods Entering or Returning To Canada Sell Yourself With The Right Cover Letter Life is all about selling ourselves, our services or products. This is a handly refresher for job/career application cover letters but can be applied almost universally to other situations we face daily. Wednesday, November 26, 2003

Dr. Patrick Cohn has these insights on how to putt the fast greens at Augusta. Easy to translate his thoughts to your game when you play on a course and greens which is tougher than you're used to playing. "Mental Keys to Conquering the greens at Augusta: This is no time to overhaul the stroke. If a player has stroke problem and is focused more on stroke than on line and speed, he is domed from the first putt of the tournament. Players must tune up their touch on the greens by hitting a ton of longer putts. Touch develops by hitting every possible putt the golfer may face in the tournament. He must practice putts left to right, right to left, uphill, downhill, sidehill, you name it. Specific drills for developing touch are paramount. The player must love to use the putter on every hole and relish the challenge of the greens. A fearless attitude is critical to putting free. If a player worries about three-putting, he'll probably four-putt! Finally, every one has to have a short memory for lip outs and missed birdie opportunities on the greens. A player must convince himself that par is a good score. Even a great putter on top of his game must accept par, interpret lip outs as a sign of good putting to come, and react to a three-putt with the composure of someone with amnesia. Attitude and patience will go a long way towards the goal of conquering the greens at Augusta." Patrick Cohn's website is http://www.peaksports.com Sunday, March 30, 2003
from the "I get all my best material from the sports pages department" Winnipeg Free Press, C3, March 30/03 Sports Illustrated asked Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, Olympic figure skating champions, who have been dating for three years, if they ever get turned on while skating. "You know what I'm thinking about?" Pelletier answered. "I'm thinking about staying vertical, and I'm not talking about the little guy." Tiger Woods won the Bay Hill Invitational by 11 strokes despite getting sick on the final day from bad pasta prepared by his Swedish girlfriend, Elin Nordegren. Says Ron Rapoport of the Chicago Sun Times: "He wants her to cook, too?" and this golf widow funny: Woman whose husband has just died goes into the local newspaper office to get an obituary published. The obt editor informs her there is a charge of 50 cents a word. She reflects and says, "Make it read, 'Bob Smith died.' " Amused at the woman's thrift, the editor tells her there is a seven-word minimum. After thinking it over, she says, 'Let it read, 'Bob Smith died. Golf clubs for sale'." Wednesday, March 26, 2003

Got this from the folks at BetterGolf.net. Doesn't say where they got it from. 20 Golfing Laws LAW 1: No matter how bad your last shot was, the worst is yet to come. This law does not expire on the 18th hole, since it has the supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a summer and, eventually, a lifetime. LAW 2: Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the number of people you tell about the former. LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though this cannot be proven in the lab, it is a known fact that the more expensive the golf ball, the greater its attraction to water. LAW 4: Golf balls never bounce off of trees back into play. If one does, the tree is breaking a law of the universe and should be cut down. LAW 5: No matter what causes a golfer to muff a shot, all his playing partners must solemnly chant "You looked up," or invoke the wrath of the universe. LAW 6: The higher a golfer's handicap, the more qualified he deems himself as an instructor. LAW 7: Every par-three hole in the world has a secret desire to humiliate golfers. The shorter the hole, the greater its desire. LAW 8: Topping a 3-iron is the most painful torture known to man. LAW 9: Palm trees eat golf balls. LAW 10: Sand is alive. If it isn't, how do you explain the way it works against you? LAW 11: Golf carts always run out of juice at the farthest point from the clubhouse. LAW 12: A golfer hitting into your group will always be bigger than anyone in your group. Likewise, a group you accidentally hit into will consist of a football player, a professional wrestler, a convicted murderer and a tax agent -- or some similar combination. LAW 13: All 3-woods are demon-possessed. LAW 14: Golf balls from the same "sleeve" tend to follow one another, particularly out of bounds or into the water (see Law three) LAW 15: A severe slice is a thing of awesome power and beauty. LAW 16: "Nice lag" can usually be translated to "lousy putt." Similarly, "tough break" can usually be translated "way to miss an easy one, sucker." LAW 17: The person you would most hate to lose to will always be the one who beats you. LAW 18: The last three holes of a round will automatically adjust your score to what it really should be. LAW 19: Golf should be given up at least twice per month. LAW 20: All vows taken on a golf course shall be valid only until the sunset of the same day Sunday, February 18, 2001

BoomGolf Putting Microscope One of the many interesting products I evaluated at the recent PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. I think it can really help all skill levels with their putting. Plus you get the added feature of having all balls returned directly to you. They say this means you can hit about 600 balls per hour if you want to. I think the 12 foot model is best for practice of longer and shorter putts. All orders come with a putting drill and tips videos. Here's some actual testimonials from Boom Golf as well. They are European based and as such have about 30 golfers on the European tour using the product, they indicate. By the way, Alex is the inventor and founder of Boomgolf. Testimonials: Alex, just wanted to let you know that my husband is fired up on his new toy - and I like it too! It's mesmerizing. Thank you! Michelle Trester (non golfer) New York -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Alex, after recieving 10 Boomerangs just before christmas I was hopeful we would sell a couple. We now only have 2 left and will be ordering some more when the weather picks up and we have some more customers to sell them to. On a personal note I have to say what a effect it has had on my own game. Before I was a very confident putter but this has just sent my putting through the roof, the rounds of golf I have played since I got it. Every single putt I hit now starts off on the line I want it to, when the pace of the greens is more consistent ther will be no stopping me. It has also had a great effect on the way I teach, it is so easy now to teach the pupil how to putt. I am very hopeful that we can do some more business soon. Neil Plimmer - PGA Pro Hassocks GC. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alex, Just a quick note to let you know that I made a “deal” with myself to practice on the boomerang every day for 50 putts minimum and not to quit until I had made at least 5 ins/outs in 30 strokes. I did this for about 10 days and have already seen a difference. Today, I had 30 putts and made 5 putts from over 15 feet and didn’t miss a single putt inside 6 to 7 feet. Final score was a 77 on a par 72 course, a new personal record! This past weekend, I had only 29 putts. I was a bit skeptical at first, but must admit that the practice is paying off. My stroke is much smoother and I feel much more confident over the putts. Now, if only I could read the greens a little better…….. proof that we are never satisfied. Thanks again for the exceptional product. Chris Watson - Lancaster PA - H'cap 12 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I began to try out your putting technique - and the results have been remarkable. First of all, I now hit virtually all putts (99 out of 100) straight into the middle of the Boomerang cup - whereas up to this some 10% or so would be pulled or pushed. I am now scoring between 20 and 24 (my record) in & outs per 100. At the end of June, I played in an Intermediate Scratch Cup and came second with a round of 78. But what really pleased me was the fact that I took just 27 puts - something I have never done before. Part of the reason for the good putting - it has to be said - was the superb greens, but for the first time in some 4 or 5 years I could see all those 5 and 6 footers rolling into the hole before I hit the putt. I have played half a dozen times since then and find that my putting is good if the greens are good and fast. On slower greens, I still have some problems with pace and do 3-putt on occasions. However, overall I am absolutely thrilled with the transformation the Boomerang has made to my putting game. Many thanks again for all your help and advise - I really appreciate it. Frank McCabe - Dublin - H'cap 10 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Alex Moore has shown the golfing world that there may finally be a tool to help your putting become more consistent and aggressive too". Martin Park H'cap 2 - Sports Journalist GOLFmagic.com (review - click here) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "In my opinion the Boomerang is a very useful device. We've used it at the academy quite extensively since we got it. It not only teaches the student to putt straight but also to judge distance. So although it will not control a person's putting stroke it provides conditions under which the student can get instant feedback and set about making the necessary changes with the minimum of fuss. I find it useful. Grant Hepburn - Golf Instructor Robert Baker Academy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "What the Boomerang can do for coordination can't be surpassed but it's also terrific fun. I recently had a three hour delay in LAX and the Boomerang saved me from going mad". Paul Coppola - PGA Pro A1 Driving Range -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You can hit all kinds of different putts on just one machine". Mark Grieves PGA Pro Pinner GC -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "There's more to this than meets the eye". Harold Swash Putting Expert -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been practicing with the Boomerang and my putting is really getting better. I had 28 putts for a round using my new Titleist Cameron oil can Newport 2. I called Titleist and advised them of my success since it was the first time I had used the putter except on the Boomerang. They were very interested in what I had to say. They hadn't heard of the Boomerang before, but they have now. Mario Acuna Golf Coach, California -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The Boomerang can be used anywhere - even on the driving range while I'm teaching and the Boomerang will benefit any golfer using it". Ray Stocker PGA Professional - Trent Park GC -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "When I practice with the Boomerang everyday I putt like God."
