The Maryland STARS May Madness Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament, a PONY National Qualifier, is in its seventh year. This tournament is held May 20 and 21, 2006. Three facilities are used to host this tournament, all three are within 10 minutes of Westminster, MD. The tournament features a 4 game guarantee and individual awards for 1st and 2nd place, fabulous playing fields and facilities and berths to the PONY National. Cost of the tournament is $400 and all teams must be PONY registered prior to the tournament. Age groups 10U, 12U, 14U, & 16U are being hosted. This tournament has had incredible success in participation. The tournament has had 45 to 55 teams participate in it each of the first two years. Not only have the number of teams been high, but the caliber of the teams such as Fastrax, Haze Softball, Keystone Wildcats, and Penn Mar Pine Cyclones from Pennsylvania, Wagners, Maryland Magic, Frederick Heartbreakers, Southern Maryland Merchants, Riviera Beach Spirit and Maryland Legends from Maryland, Vienna Shamrocks, Manassas Blaze, Sterling Silver, Vienna Stars and Goldrush Softball from Virginia, Freehold Tornados from New Jersey, and Slik Chix from New York have provided the highest levels of competition for the teams attending the tournament. The tournament is hosted by the Maryland STARS Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament Team Program in conjunction with the Carroll County Sports Complex. The facilities, Mayeski Park/South Carroll High School (directions) (4 fields, 2 with lights), Century High School (directions) (1 field) and the Carroll County Sports Complex (directions) (5 fields, 3 with lights), are three of the best in Maryland and the surrounding region. The fields are well maintained before and during the tournament. The Mayeski Park and Carroll County Sports Complex have their own concession stand with varied menu items. The Carroll County Sports Complex has indoor restrooms. All sites are near restaurants, motels/hotels, and malls while still providing a relaxing country atmosphere. All teams must be PONY registered and carry liability insurance of $2M. To register your team with PONY Softball, please go to the PONY Eastern Zone Web Site and following the instructions about registering and insuring your team. Be aware that PONY Registration may take a couple of weeks and no team will be allowed to play if they are not properly registered and insured prior to the tournament. Birth certificates and PONY Tournament Team patches (all players and coaches) are required for all teams. Allstar Helmets is providing helmet airbrushing services on Saturday at Mayeski Park and Sunday at the Carroll County Sports Complex. All tournament information (rules, schedules, directions, motels/hotels, results, etc.) will be distributed/available at the Maryland STARS web site and/or emailed to each team. The STARS web site will also keep an up to date list of teams that have registered for the tournament.

The Maryland STARS are hosting an ASA Eastern National Qualifier tournament, the Summer Heat Nationals Warm Up. This tournament will be held July 15 through July 16, 2006 at Mayeski Park in Sykesville, MD. This tournament provides a great opportunity for teams to earn a berth to the ASA Eastern Nationals and for those playing in Nationals to keep their team in game shape. The tournament features a 5 game guarantee, team and individual awards for 1st and 2nd place, fabulous playing fields and facilities and concessions. Age groups will be 16U and 18U. Cost of the tournament is $425 and all teams must be ASA registered. The tournament is hosted by the Maryland STARS Girls Fastpitch Softball Tournament Team Program. The tournament will be limited to the first 20 teams that register and pay. The facilities, Mayeski Park (directions) (4 fields, 2 with lights) is one of the best in Maryland and the surrounding region. The fields are well maintained before and during the tournament. The site has its own concession stand with varied menu items. The site is near restaurants, motels/hotels, and malls while still providing a relaxing country atmosphere. All teams must be ASA registered and carry liability insurance of $2M. All tournament information (rules, schedules, code of conduct, directions, motels/hotels, results, etc.) will be distributed/available at the Maryland STARS web site and/or emailed to each team.
